| The Gift of Life “For you created me in my inmost being; you knit me together in mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-16 This quote is telling us that it is good to have children, and to always praise the Lord for them, too. Some people say they never want children. So, they work hard and make a lot of money and get a big house, yet, they want to share it with somebody because it is too much for them and they feel lonely. Then, when they retire and are going to die soon they regret it. They regret it because they missed the time to love someone. This is a very sad thing. Another thing that people who have a few children say, is that they don’t want any more children because they are too much work and cost too much money. It is worth having children - even if you have to spend a lot of money - because you would be very lonely and also because it is better to love someone than something. t is true, they are more work. Yet, it is not too much work when you pray a lot and ask God to help you. If God gives children to you, with it he will give you the things you need to care for them. You do not have to teach them everything, but you do have to teach them a lot. Whatever you teach them, try to let it always be good. If it is not good then God will help you to make it good. Some of the most important things you need to teach your children are to know, to love and to serve God, who made them. Not everyone needs children because some of the people need to serve God in a different way. But that is a different story. To have children is a blessing because not only do you have to teach them, but they teach you. Children are fresh and new, and they teach their elders freshness and newness. In times when there is a problem, it is a problem. Yet, it is also a learning experience you’ve never had before. Everybody has at least one problem that leads to a learning experience, but in different ways. Don’t ever get mad at children because they may want to get mad right back. However, if you show love and kindness to them, they will want to do the same. When you are kind to them, you will all live in happiness together. Do not ever push children away from you, for Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” (Mark 10:14-15) When you teach them about Jesus they will grow holy and will enter the kingdom of God; hopefully. Children, somehow, don’t sin as much as adults do. Sinning is one thing that you should never teach them to do, or else it will be very bad. Psalm 139:13-16 is a parable. It is telling us to praise God for making me and you so well that it is hard to explain. When it says, “You knit me together in my mother’s womb,” it means that God made you, not anyone else. You are unique. “Fearfully and wonderfully made” means that God made us very very well. Everything about you is very complex, like a computer is complex. But, the human person is more complicated than any invention, and we should treasure each and every individual child who comes into this world and welcome each one with open arms. |
