The Connections Between Euthanasia and Abortion
Medicine is designed to help people. It is supposed to help prevent and cure
diseases. Unfortunately, some procedures aren’t the most beneficial: they
cause death rather than promote life. The targets are unborn children, the
elderly and those with serious health or mental problems.

Abortion and Euthanasia: America’s Choice?
Over the past few decades, abortion and euthanasia have raised many
controversial questions.  While it is perfectly legal for a woman to have an
abortion and for an incompetent man or woman to be euthanized, there are
still two sides to these issues.  The freedom of choice has always been highly
prized in our American culture.  Is choosing abortion the same as choosing
euthanasia?

A Right to Die or a Right to Life?
With the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973 questions have been raised on both
sides, concerning abortion versus life.  Does the mother have the right to
choose to have an abortion, or does the unborn baby have a right to life?
With the Terri Schiavo case, did her husband justly carry out her so-called
wishes by euthanizing her, or did Terri have a right to life in her disabled
state?  Although these questions are valid and controversial, they can be
summed up in one question: Are abortion and euthanasia different words for
murder, or do they uphold the American ideals of justice, truth, and equal
rights for all?

America’s Test of Greatness
In one week, America saw three school shootings. Over 12 students and a
principal died as a result. Rightfully, our country mourned.
In one day, America was shocked by the 9-11 terrorist attack on the World
Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. Over 3,000 Americans were killed
by this act of brutality. Rightfully, our country mourned.
For 4 years, America lived through the horror of Civil War. Hundreds of
thousands of American soldiers died as a result. Rightfully, our country
mourned.
For 33 years, America has allowed the death of over 48 million innocent,
helpless victims. Why isn’t our country mourning? Why aren’t we ending this
tragedy?

Life
The importance of children to God is expressed in Psalm 127:3 which states,
“Truly children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward.”  It is
a privilege to take care of a child.  God loved His children, us, so much that he
was willing to sacrifice His own Son, Jesus Christ, to die a brutal death on a
cross for us so we could know God and go to heaven.

Human Life
God tells Jeremiah in 1:4-5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and
before you were born I consecrated you.”  This statement to Jeremiah tells us
three things about the way God creates a human being.  First, He says that He
created our soul before we were in our mother’s womb by stating that He knew
us before He formed us.  So before we even had a body our soul existed.

The Gift of Life
This quote is telling us that it is good to have children, and to always praise
the Lord for them, too.  Some people say they never want children.  So, they
work hard and make a lot of money and get a big house, yet, they want to
share it with somebody because it is too much for them and they feel lonely.
Then, when they retire and are going to die soon they regret it.  They regret it
because they missed the time to love someone.  This is a very sad thing.

Children, God’s Reward for Us
Children truly are a beautiful gift from the Lord such as it says in the following
Bible quote which was written by King David: “Truly, children are a gift from the
Lord.  The fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3. Imagine a world with no
beautiful, cute little babies!  Wouldn’t that be terrible?  Because children are
the future generation of adults, they are important.  Children are important to
the present as well.

God’s Greatest Gift
God’s greatest gift to mankind is life.  “Truly children are a gift from the Lord;
the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3).  In Psalm 127, children are
the reward God gives to mankind.  The understanding that children are a gift,
that mankind is blessed to create with God new life, and that God creates
children out of His love for man illustrates the sanctity of life.

Truly children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Psalm 127:3.
A baby is not just one more mouth to feed; Scripture says a baby is a gift from
God.  I heard a person on the radio say that a baby who was aborted might
have discovered a cure for cancer or some other terrible disease if he (or she)
was able to live his (or her) life.  I think the person on the radio is right.

LIFE
What if we weren’t alive?  What would it feel like?  It would feel like nothing.
Life is precious to us.  It is precious because God gave it to us.  God knew us
before we were even born.  God clearly says this in Jeremiah 1:4-5 “Before I
formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated
you.”  Life is a gift from God.  Some people don’t seem know this.
